Outlaw Star - Through The Night (Contest)

Finally done with the colors, and still working on the shading, trying to use this to overcome a major art-block i have been suffering lately, anyway .. hope you like it.

Took waaaay longer to finalize it with shading than it should have, but i have been busy with so much stuff i didn't get to sit and finish it until almost a year or more later, anyways, enjoy.

My entry for the 2nd Anniversary contest at "AnimeMangaBefore2000" group, i chose Outlaw Star (aired on 1998)+ The OP song from the same series "Through the Night".

I also picked the famous Star Wars poster arrangement (used recently in Guardians of the Galaxy posters), because Outlaw Star also happens to be one fantastic space adventure/epic with all the elements that made Star Wars so great, a lovable cast of characters and iconic villains (Hazanko being the most badass villain ever, very few villains were hit with a micro-black hole and lived to tell the tale),  space combat (you gotta love those spaceships with grappling arms battles), some crazy ideas (like Taoist magicians and the amazing caster gun), loads of fun humor, fisticuffs & gun fights .. and cat girls !!! (and no Starwars didn't have cat girls XD).

As for the song i chose for the theme of the drawing, let me elaborate, the lyrics of Through the Night for me screamed "space adventure" and the music fit so perfectly to that, to better illustrate that .. check this AMV made using the song and scenes from the series ---> www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6doxl…

I wish i had enough time to fully shade and color drawing but i wasted a lot of time until i chose the anime i wanted to use for the contest and the song to use with it, kept juggling between Berserk, Orphan, Sorcerer Hunters, Nadesico, Blue Gender and Dual and a ton of different songs (sometimes watching too much anime before 2000 can be a curse) .. i only settled for Outlaw Star three days ago and started collecting artwork for reference while actually drawing it .. that's why it ended up this way .. i will surely post the fully colored and shaded version sometime later.
